Integrity House is proud to announce that Senior Director Shelton Clark, is a recipient of the prestigious 2022 Minority Fellowship Program for Addictions Counselors (MFP-AC). Mr. Clark is one of only 50 recipients nationwide accepted into the MFP-AC program, which is administered by the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC).
Made possible by a grant awarded by the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the NBCC MFP-AC program administers up to 50 master’s degree-level counseling fellowships for addiction counseling students. The goal of the program is to ensure that the behavioral health needs of all Americans are met, regardless of language or culture, thereby reducing health disparities and improving overall community health and well-being. Eligible minorities include but are not limited to racial, ethnic, cultural, religious, gender, sexual orientation, rural, or military groups. By strategically promoting and providing fellowships to master’s degree-level counseling students, the NBCC MFP-AC strengthens the infrastructure that engages diverse individuals in counseling and increases the number of professional counselors who provide direct substance use disorder services to minority populations.
As a Senior Director at Integrity House, Mr. Clark oversees day-to-day program operations for the men’s halfway house programs, providing effective and measurable strategies for comprehensive addictions treatment, mental health treatment, and support services to make long-term recovery possible for clients. Currently enrolled in Kean University’s Masters in Alcohol and Drug Abuse Program, Mr. Clark is utilizing the NBCC MFP-AC grant to help fund his continued education. He is expected to complete his studies in Spring 2024.
