We are excited to announce our Employment Specialist opening in Newark, NJ!
Employment Specialist is responsible for assisting participants with obtaining and maintaining competitive employment through job placement, employer engagement, career coaching, workforce partnerships, and retention services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruit employers to participate in hiring events, informational sessions, job fairs, and workforce development activities.
- Conduct participant employment assessments and assist with career pathway exploration.
- Assist participants with job search activities, employment applications, resumes, cover letters, and interview preparation.
- Coordinate interviews between participants and employers.
- Identify employment opportunities aligned with participant skills, interests, and
Individualized Employment Plans (IEPs). - Support participants in securing unsubsidized employment opportunities.
- Collaborate with Workforce Readiness Instructors to reinforce job readiness skills.
- Coordinate referrals to occupational training opportunities including CPRS, OSHA, SORA, Home Health Aide, ServSafe, HVAC, Welding, and other approved training programs.
- Conduct participant follow-up at Weeks 1, 2, 4, 8, and 12 following employment placement to support retention and address barriers to success.
- Provide individualized job coaching, mentoring, and workplace problem-solving support.
- Assist participants in developing workplace success plans and retention strategies.
- Coordinate with One-Stop Career Centers and Workforce Development Boards to maximize employment opportunities.
- Track participant employment outcomes, wages, retention milestones, and employer feedback.
- Maintain accurate documentation and enter required data into agency and grant
management systems - Participate in community outreach, networking events, and workforce development initiatives.
- Prepare monthly performance reports and assist with grant reporting requirements.
- Ensure compliance with NJDOL, WIOA, HIPAA, and agency requirements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by direct supervisor.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Social Work, Business Administration, Workforce Development, Counseling, Rehabilitation Services, or related field required.
- Minimum two years of workforce development, employment services, recruitment, or job placement experience.
- Valid NJ Driver’s License required.
Schedule:
This is a full-time position. The employee is generally expected to work Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm. However, flexibility is required to accommodate participant schedules, employer meetings, recruitment events, community outreach activities, workforce readiness cohorts, and other program operations. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.
Salary:
$50,000 Annually
