While Integrity House has been blessed with many important visitors and events this summer, the most impressive successes have been those of our student-members. Integrity House believes that lifelong change can occur within the lives of our clients through the right resources and support. These changes are apparent everyday on our Newark and Secaucus campuses.
Today, we celebrate the accomplishments of three young men in Secaucus who have recieved their GED. Nancy Vassallo, a teacher in the Education Department in Secaucus, says that “The best part of my job is giving them the results. Sometimes they don’t believe me until I show them the paper! And so many of them are so used to failing that they have no hope of passing until I make them take a practice test to prove that they can indeed succeed!”
One of the young men says “I feel as though getting my GED is a great stepping stone for my future. Acheiving this goal is going to impact my life for the better because now there’s nothing stopping me from progressing except myself and I refuse to lose. I am enrolling in Bergen Community College to be a certified alcohol and drug counselor and I will be taking a course to be a certified hemodialysis technician. I am so proud of myself and I truely believe the sky is the limit.”
